Why Freedom Sling?

How It Works

What Fits?

Why Choose Freedom Sling over a backpack or OEM carrier?

The American Lung Association reported in an April 2006 research study that there are approximately 35 million Americans living with chronic lung disease. One in seven American’s will develop some type of lung disorder within the next year. Lung disease has continued to rise each year while diagnoses of heart disease and cancer have declined.

It is not our intent to paint a picture of the doom and gloom in relation to chronic lung disease. Our goal at Freedom Sling is to provide individuals with a sense of independence and self-sufficiency. Our intent at Eagle Respiratory Solutions, LLC is to offer a chance for those using oxygen therapies in their daily lives to expand their mobility by providing the Freedom Sling® oxygen carrier.

Thankfully, life is not over when someone is diagnosed with a lung ailment. For individuals that require oxygen therapy there is comfort in knowing that researchers are working hard daily to find a cure. In fact, the scientific basis of oxygen administration for a minimum of 15 hours per day was established by the nocturnal oxygen therapy trial (NOTT) and the British MSC trial. These studies demonstrate that there is a survival difference seen between continuous ambulatory oxygen and stationary oxygen, and stationary oxygen versus no oxygen. These trials illustrated that patients who were “high walkers” (on oxygen and exercised daily with oxygen assistance) had a survival rate of 80% after 3 ½ years as compared to a survival rate of 25% of patients “low walkers” (no oxygen therapy and had no exercise).

There are various theories and it remains unexplained as to why continuous oxygen therapy in the NOTT study prolonged survival in COPD patients. It could be the duration of oxygen therapy or possibly the ability to continue the flow of oxygen therapy while moving from one place to another. These studies illustrate that the ability to move with oxygen improves tissue oxygen transfer, and in this process it can restore energy production at the tissue level. Ambulation (the ability to move from place to place) provides physical reconditioning and has a proven psychosocial value. The NOTT study showed that continuous oxygen improved brain function more than nocturnal oxygen (oxygen only at night).

It is a fact of life that exercise and diet have a substantially positive impact in one’s overall health and mental attitude. Exercise is not nor should it be limited to just the “healthy” people.

At Freedom Sling, we have faith that our unique oxygen carrier product will assist oxygen therapy patients in helping restore a hands free life style. The Freedom Sling® is your partner in taking the first steps toward improving your quality of life. The Freedom Sling can give you the independence you need to start an exercise regimen. If you feel your illness restricts you physical activity, or even limits something as simple as walking because you don’t want to “drag along the liquid oxygen” here is your chance to have a hands free approach. Freedom Sling wants to encourage you to live a full and active life, but before beginning any exercise program you should discuss your health limits with your doctor. Remember to customize your program for your specific needs and not overexert in the beginning.

Freedom Sling® is ergonomically designed to be worn over your right shoulder. Unlike other oxygen backpacks or shoulder bags it allows patients with joints problems the ease of being able to carry your liquid oxygen, as it slips on and off easily. Freedom Sling’s “wing design” allows for the entire weight of your oxygen carrier to be evenly distributed comfortably along your whole back. Freedom Sling is adjustable to fit a variety of body frames. Freedom Sling® has multiple pockets for storage and has quick release buckles that can be removed quickly or may be converted from a medical oxygen shoulder bag to a secure shoulder bag for a more accelerator activity like golf, biking, or working around the yard.

Being able to provide a quality product and something that will benefit all individuals as well as the community is important to Freedom Sling. ERS will continue to research, expand our product line to incorporate all the new and innovative portable oxygen concentrators that will be introduced in the market place in the coming years.
