Our Story

The story behind the Freedom Sling® Liquid Oxygen
carrier / shoulder bag and backpack of a different style

“Our mission is to provide superior products at affordable pricing, while treating our customers with honesty and integrity.”

“Our philosophy is to provide the oxygen dependent population with the “Freedom Sling ” to assist each person in leading a full and active life with a value added product that allows them to carry oxygen for breathing assistance.”

Can you recall the number of the times that you’ve walked away with your cannula on and forgotten about what was attached to the other end? First you feel a slight pull, and then you can almost count the seconds before your oxygen container hits the floor. That was my problem, and I’m sure many others on oxygen therapy have experienced as well. If the Doctor would have sent a third hand, when he put me on oxygen with my new oxygen container, then maybe the Freedom Sling would have never been born.

I was unable to find something on the market that I felt would work for me so the Freedom Sling was designed by me out of a necessity. Based on what the doctors had informed me, I would never go anywhere in the future without my oxygen by my side. Given the alternative I accepted that for a short time. When asked by friends and acquaintances what was wrong I’d answer those with a reply of “nothing really, I feel fine, I just can’t breathe too well.” And so it went for awhile, but I finally realized that being on oxygen shouldn’t have to confine my activity or anyone else if we were still physically able to do it with the assistance of oxygen therapy.

Five years ago, again out of necessity, I set off to design a “multi-use medical oxygen carrier” for just myself. An oxygen carrier that I could fit securely on my shoulder, and not give me the constant pulling on my shoulders, an oxygen carrier that I would be able to put on and remove quickly. At the same time I wanted a shoulder bag/ backpack that when I was out in the public didn’t throw up a flag and didn’t identify me with having a medical problem. I needed something to carry my phone, my glasses, my car keys, any note pads, and the list of things to do that day. As you probably already know the lack of oxygen does have an affect on the thought process.

I wanted an oxygen carrier that had the “hands free” security of a backpack, but still allowed me to remove it quickly and hassle free. I also wanted the design to incorporate and allow the ability for those patients that are able to get out and enjoy one form of activity or another and still have their hands free to do it.

Now you have the short story of it, why the Freedom Sling is not just a patented shoulder sling oxygen carrier, but it is a medical oxygen carrier that will give its user three unique styles in one design;

  1. The mono-sling (the ease of putting it on and taking it off around the house, in the car or at the grocery store),
  2. The “active task waist buckle” for around the house (gardening, walking the dog or just hanging out in the garage)
  3. The “activity setup” for those who are physically able and want to get back to doing the things they loved (fishing, golfing, photography, and yes exercise), but were unable to because of always having to worry about the oxygen container and the sometime “backpack hassles” of carrying it along.

Freedom Sling wants to promote the idea of getting up and moving around. I want you to have that chance to bring back that ease of moving around with the Freedom Sling.

As always you should consult you Doctor before you begin any additional activity.

Sincerely and Best Regards,

Joe
